Yeah it has been. I have had a bit of a strange one this morning. Went to start the car. Not a dickie bird, disconnected and reconnected the battery and she started no bother and has been fine since. Just weird.

Check your battery clamps Darren. A bad joint between the clamp proper and the cables going into it was a very common issue on the Xantia...

I agree with Jim, I had the same problem once with the C5.
Drove the car to my daughters, an hours journey, refused to start, disconnected terminals refitted start and drove fine. Changed the -ve terminal which looked dodgy. Problem never happened again.

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Hi all, haven't been on for ages, flat out in work. Don't seem to get a minute lately.Finished now until the 5th so a nice long badly needed break. I've had a few gremlins with the car lately though and they are mostly intermittent. sometimes when I knock the car off for a minute and get out and get back in I have to either open the passenger door or disconnect the battery to get power to the ignition it's very weird. Another thing it did the other night was it seemed to have power surged and drops like a bad alternator but when I tested it when I got home it was fine 14.2 V steady the other issue is the latch on the rear drivers side door not engaging intermittently. Any thoughts?

Literally just a thought, maybe the locking playing up is affecting the immobiliser?

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
I don't think so because when it does it there is literally no power, no lights on the dash, completely blank. So more like a bad earth. Could it be bsi reset needed?

Darren,
Have you sorted out the earth clamp/leads ? If not possible reason for these funny problems.

Hi Chris yeah can't help myself. I had a look at the clamps Kenny there seems to be good connection to the poles. Merry Christmas all and a happy New year to you all and thank you for all your help this year.

Has done it once more since I disconnected and reconnected it and seems to be behaving itself. I'm having a bit of a new issue whereby the car vibrates a good bit on fast acceleration and I noticed when it's idling the wing mirrors vibrate I don't know if this is coincidental. I think I need to balance the wheels but it feels like something else to me. Any suggestions?

My initial thought would be an engine or gearbox mounting failing.

Good to see you back Darren and pleased all is behaving itself - more or less. And let's hope the frenetic pace of life soon eases...

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Hi lads, thanks for the big welcome Chris, it's been great apart from that and it's more so on hard acceleration or above 65 mph ok I'll have a look I'm wondering if it could be the intermediate bearing on the Rh drive shaft. I have a second hand lower engine mount so it might be worth having a look at it.Its a bit weird because it doesn't seem to affect steering which tells me it's more likely drivetrain, which is why I'm thinking it might be the intermediate bearing.
In other news herself gold me this evening that the 508 keeps cutting out when idling.if it's not one thing it's another. It done the same thing during the summer and I changed the fuel filter and gave it a dose of snake oil and it helped. I do feel a bit of a hunt in it.So I think it's fuel related. I am afraid to open the tank incase it is diesel bug or something.
