My 307’s replacement radio used to work, but not now

Unread post by ozfrog »

Shortly after purchasing this car, I needed to replace the visual display unit that sits on the top of the dashboard. Mine was faded so badly that it couldn’t be read.

Once I had found a good replacement unit, I found that the seller also had a later model of the radio which had Bluetooth! Hands free phone calls, and streaming music were too good to pass up. I replaced the radio and the display unit very easily and before I had been able to start anything, I was told that it wouldn’t work because the radio had to be coded to my car. I shrugged it off and then started the engine, turned on the radio and made a phone call from my phone to see if it would connect to the car system. It worked perfectly!

But no one could explain why it worked. I didn’t care; I just kept using it. Until …

The battery drain problem I was asking about recently.

Now that that’s fixed and I have a new alternator, the radio has a strange issue. Not only does it not connect, I cannot get it out of what appears to be a setup screen, in French language.

Previously, I would press and hold the menu button and that would take me to the various settings, including setting the time and date. But pressing the menu button now does nothing. Pressing and holding the menu button still does nothing. The time is counting from the time that the battery was connected. But it is flashing constantly.

Interestingly, it has retained the Bluetooth connection to my old iPad! I can’t do anything with that connection, but I can see the connection on my iPad. I can’t make any new connections.

What is that strange screen that I see? And how do I get out of it, please?

And what do I do next?

Sorry for my essay.

Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Andrew

I am thinking you lost contact between the BSi and the radio when the battery was disconnected. You could try a BSI reset following the procedure in the link below and see if that restores comms. If not you will probably have to code the radio into the car using Diagbox. :)
