Hi. I have a Peugeot 206 with a 136 HP RFN engine and error codes P1160 and P1161. It starts and drives normally, but after another stop, the revs jump to 1500, doesn't respond to the gas pedal, and starts to fluctuate. I turn it off, restart it, and it's fine. The accelerator pedal has been replaced. Interestingly, the fault only occurs in the city at low revs; I haven't noticed it on the highway. Interestingly, it reports a temperature sensor error, but I do get a reading. What could this be? I've replaced the accelerator pedal, intake air temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor, EGR valve, and MAP sensor. Before starting these problems, I replaced the hose connecting the valves to the throttle body.

Re: Peugeot 206 GTI
As a first move I'd check the area around the engine bay fusebox for damp or corroded connectors. Faults where a particular part is being falsely grounded often come down to dampness in the connectors around the Fusebox.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I cleaned the engine control unit connectors with cleaner and disconnected the connectors at the fuse box, visually checking. Everything is fine. Maybe there's a sensitive area somewhere ?

Did you remove each fuse and check the holders as well as the connecting plugs?

Then worth pulling the fuses and making sure there is no moisture underneath. Once you have proved that, the next thing I'd suggest would be to trace the loom back from the sensor and check for worn insulation at a clipping point or wherever the loom bends.

In error P1160, which temperature sensor could it be? Do you have a diagram of where these wires go?
