Standard 109 HDi Xantia Battery Size

Unread post by Rhothgar »

Does anyone know the standard battery size of a 2.0HDi Xantia 109?

I cannot seem to find the Mechanics Handbooks in the Resources which might confirm it.

Car currently has an 027 which is 65Ah 640CCA

This ad would seem to confirm you have the right one Roger:

Cheers Mick.

I’m just debating whether to slap an 096 in there.

There seems to be enough space and they are 80Ah and 740CCA

That Exide one is pretty poor spec-wise being only 62Ah and only 540CCA!!!!

Just shows how good Yuasa batteries are giving 65Ah and 640 in the same casing!!!

Yuasa website ALSO states 027 so I am going to stick with that. Cheers Mick.

027 is what is originally fitted however if i could fit a 096 in there then i would be fitting that.
The bigger the better.
Its fine to fit a higher spec battery but not a lower one.

It’s exactly what I was going to do but for £77 for a Yuasa YBX5027 I cannot look that gift horse in the mouth.

I also know the 027 fits the Smart ForFour and also the Series 1 1.9TD. Of course the 096 will no doubt fit the S1 but might be a bit of a stretch for the Smart.

One other thing is whether going larger could potentially lead to premature battery sulphation if the alternator cannot get the required charge back into it fast enough. I only do short journeys as it is which kills batteries and then tend to leave it for extended periods without driving at certain times of the year. If I get a battery which I know fits the other cars, I can switch it over and know that it is being ever so slightly better maintained.

What do you think?

Yes, it is in the 'resources' forum, which is one of the few areas that is restricted to donors. You are 2 weeks too late, as we just retired 2023 donors at the beginning of this year.

Indeed it is in the members' area Roger so you'll need to shell out from the donate button above :)
