2014 Citroën DS3 obd problem

Unread post by Tonyw151 »

Hi, before taking the car to a garage, I want to check I'm not missing anything obvious.

We have recently acquired a DS3, and had an engine fault appear on the screen. When trying to read codes, with both a cheap Bluetooth and a cheap generic scanner, neither will connect. The attempt with a wired one also caused some other faults to cycle, brakes and airbag I spotted.

Are problems with the obd port common?

It is not that common to have problems with the OBD port itself, but random fault codes are often produced with a poor battery. I'd suggest you clear all the codes and carry out a check of the battery including a charge and then do a BSI reset according to the procedure linked below, then see if any codes reappear. If they do then you will need a high end diagnostic, ideally Diagbox, to interrogate the car and see what is what! :)

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Cheers, will have a go later.

The battery is brand new and dealer fitted, so shouldn't be the problem
