Goodness, that's not hanging around is it!
Meanwhile over here we've gained what?...about 20mph in a few select bits of the network in the real world over what we had 40 years ago. In orders of magnitude less comfort.

Re: One for the train buffs.
Problem is Zel, we have a Victorian-era railway that's been devoid of serious investment for 80 years now. Without a full rebuild as, as for instance, the French did with their TGV network, things will not change...Zelandeth wrote: 22 Nov 2025, 22:48 Goodness, that's not hanging around is it!

And with the absolute shambles that's HS2 and EWR, I'd not hold your breath that anything will improve any time soon...

Re: One for the train buffs.
I've not watched it but even from the displayed still picture I see it looks very much like classic AI Slop...
Just yesterday I saw a very convincing short reel on Farcebook showing a canal boat destroying a section of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct...
It looked, on a casual look, very convincing... It didn't happen. The worry is that AI can easily feed the gullible.

Re: One for the train buffs.
Having watched that train video above I can confirm that most, if not all, of it is genuine and not AI generated
The thumbnail - as usual - has nothing to do with the content.

Given that, I did watch a bit of it and yes, I agree Bobins... The thumbnail is very deceptive. Gosh, some scary stuff in therebobins wrote: 05 Dec 2025, 06:50 Having watched that train video above I can confirm that most, if not all, of it is genuine and not AI generatedThe thumbnail - as usual - has nothing to do with the content.
I stand corrected
I had to giggle, YouTube gave me English subtitles. Presumably it felt the need

I turned the sound off and used the subtitles. Can't be doing with that transatlantic version of English.CitroJim wrote: 06 Dec 2025, 05:24

Re: One for the train buffs.
I only watched the first 8 minutes or so as the voice was doing me in too, I do have to think some of them are contrived because I don't see why anyone would be filming the scene before the incident in order to catch it!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I could only stand that narrator for a short'ish time too
I've now got to the point where I distrust everything I see, hear and read on the Internet these days unless absolutely proved genuine.
In fact my default in all aspects of my life, close friends and family excepted, is to distrust...

You're sounding like Patrick McGoohan from The Prisoner now, Jim

Re: One for the train buffs.
I never saw that series as it was on ITV and we only had a BBC TV until 1970. We did used to go nextdoor to watch Cannonball but not The Prisoner. Because I started work in 1968, by 1970 we had sufficient cash to invest in a new Roberts Colour TV with the 'click it' remote channel changer!! The family never were great TV watchers anyway, spending most of our leisure time on outdoor pursuits of various kinds!!

Be seeing you.
