205 ignition switch

my daughter has a peugeot 205 1988 1000cc,the problem is with the ignition switch,when you turn the key to start the car it doesn't spring back when the engine starts and the starter motor continues to run.is this a common fault and how easy is it to fix? thanks in advance,Jerry

Never heard that one before, If I remember correctly the return spring is in the electrical part of the switch and not the lock it's self.
Going back a year or two I think you insert the key and push a pin in on the side, the lock barrel then slides out.
