Re: Big Brother is Watching You (your evidence please)
Came up in a Google new article - this one: https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-indus ... controller
An "OM.G cable" basically a bog standard USB cable that can log what is passing through it, connect itself to watch football and all sorts of dodgy stuff!

Worrying

Re: Big Brother is Watching You (your evidence please)
One of my grandsons was 23 today.
I shoved a card through his door last night for him to find as he left for work this morning and scheduled an email for 08:00 this morning.
Was going to text him as I wasn't sure if he still used the email address and when I opened the phone, there was the email in the text thread, unsent.
The email account is not linked to my phone.
Since Google altered the spy in the sky tracking it is all but useless.

There should be no connection between this and your email accounts on the phone Stevemyglaren wrote: 29 Dec 2024, 21:28 Since Google altered the spy in the sky tracking it is all but useless.

Indeed but the phone and all three accounts 'know' each other although only one is supposed to be connected. I don't use the phone for email, too fiddly, only Google Maps.

Re: Big Brother is Watching You (your evidence please)
This thread has been quiet this year but I thought I'd post something I heard about today.
I had lunch with my mate Bob who you may remember from the September Stroll back in 2020. He told me about a TV documentary he watched the other day about a police investigation into a fatal car accident. Apparently the deceased had been driving a VW, but Bob couldn't remember the model, when he lost control going round a bend and crashed into a tree which bounced him across the road into the path of an oncoming car with 2 people in it. They both survived but the VW driver died.
The reason I'm posting it here is that the Police were able to interrogate the car's computer and discover its speeds, directions , brake and steering inputs during the accident and thus they were able to piece together exactly what happened. He was doing 70mph approaching the bend, steered into it and braked hard, the back came round and he tried counter steering but it threw him into the tree and then spun through 360 before impacting the second car.
The car could be updated over the internet and data from the car read the same way. Draw your own conclusions as to what that means in terms of the title of this topic!!

That has to be a fairly new car. This would tie in with requirement that vehicles "know" speed, their geographic position, have road speed sign visual recognition so that a warning can be given.

You mention "The Joy of Sex". Whispering Bob Ross tickles my missus when he slaps his brush against the easel....NewcastleFalcon wrote: 17 Apr 2019, 09:02 Right I will put you out of suspense and answer the question "Who on earth is Bob Ross?" Its in the spoiler. Not the "The joy of sex", but "The joy of....

In answer to your question, there will probably be a meta pixel helper installed on a webpage or via YouTube if that is possible so that is what probably tracks you and maybe, just maybe, the geolocation on your mobile knows you are elsewhere and pushes the content to you...

I'll make a brief return seeing as you have addressed the original 2019 question Roger, thanks for that!
But here is the 2025 question...will yourself, Dan, Mick and Jim and the other FCF mechanical wizards, and of course Skull himself, maintain the credibility of the FCF on the fixing things front, by bringing Skull's thread to a successful conclusion.
Its one of my go-to reads which keeps me coming back...but it needs finishing off!

It's good to know the Falcon ghost is floating around keeping an eye on things!! As for a successful conclusion, we all hope so but fundamentally, in the end and the final analysis it will be down to Gary to flay the final fling!!NewcastleFalcon wrote: 11 Dec 2025, 16:31

Either way, the salvation will all depend on skull.
Either the car breaks or he breaks...
Hopefully, it will be the car. I am pleased to see he is almost as determined as me to see a dying car kept alive and we await those immortal words...

On the subject of keeping them alive, out of curiosity I looked up the C5 Estate LA06AEB I rescued from the field, it's not been on the road from late 2024.

Sadly I regretted having the bright idea one day of inputting the registrations of all the cars I've ever owned, not a huge number, but depressingly all have "dropped off the radar" in terms of MOT so more than likely scrappedGibbo2286 wrote: 11 Dec 2025, 17:28 On the subject of keeping them alive, out of curiosity I looked up the C5 Estate LA06AEB I rescued from the field, it's not been on the road from late 2024.![]()
