Heard this on Radio Caroline yesterday. Brilliant, just brilliant.

As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

I didn't realise that Radio Caroline was still operating.

Grew up with Eric Burdon's version and still prefer it over a myriad of others!! :-D

This will surprise you, Paul - but that's not the first time that version has been posted on the Pickled Egg  :-D

I've been to a small gig where he played that and we all sang along. It was...... brilliant :-D

It's mostly an internet station nowadays although there is a presence on 648kHz AM aimed at the east coast. There are a handful of DAB+ outlets scattered around the country.

I didn't realise but it's good enough to bear repetition.

I've seen him a few times but only performing solo and he never tried to do Rising Sun. I guess the audience has to be primed for that.

As it is the 13th of December, the traditional Lucia day.

This is quite long but there are shorter clips available.
A very strong Swedish tradition, despite Lucia having been Italian.

The main part of this is the girls, one with the crown of candles and her cohort of girls carrying candles, all dressed in white with the red sash.
This representative of the original Lucia.
Within families the girls get up early, dress like this, prepare coffee and cinnamon buns to serve to their parents in bed.

At work the girls would dress up and wear the candle crown and serve coffee to everyone, more as a joke that seriously. Enjoyable nevertheless.
I was fortunate to work in very relaxed places that welcomed such nonsense.

Nowadays it is usually schools and colleges that promote this and have pupils/students dress up and visit hospitals, hospices and old folks homes.
All very pleasant and a bit surprising in light of Swedes not being a very religious nation.
