My front power windows have a "MYSTERIOUS" problem of not working ..... usually after driving for 10 minutes .
The front windows operate normally at start-up .
Then after a few minutes the front power windows do not work : if I turn the ignition off and then right back on, the front windows will operate normally again !
THE REAR power windows always operate without fault .
No other electrical problems noted .
Weather is dry ( no rain ) .
This does not "seem" to be a door wiring problem , or a fuse problem .... because as soon as I turn ignition off and on , the front power windows "re-energize" !
Has a fellow Xantia owner experienced a similar problem ? and can give me advice ?

I'd carry out a full BSI reset first to see if that makes a difference : viewtopic.php?p=601679#p601679
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Zero working or intermittent when the button is repeatedly pressed ?
Have you checked the door/body wire (or just discounting them ?)
Does the cars key fob still work to lock the car ?
"When" the windows are working, run them all the way down (one touch) and hold for 2 secs, immediately run them up and hold for 2 secs, repeat twice......this re-calibrates the anti-pinch & one touch (on you car only the drivers door is one touch if I recall)

ZERO WORKING when the front windows stop working.
Door / body wires are intact
Key fob still locks door.
As soon as i turn ignition OFF then back ON , windows work ( at least I'm not left out in the cold and rain !)
I will "re-calibrate" ......

Re: 1997 XANTIA front power window MYSTERY problem
There are no electronics or anti-pinch for the passenger side window motor, just wires, fuses switches and a relay.
Here are the wiring diagrams for the front electric windows:

Component 6021 is a relay that isolates the front electric windows. It is located beside the fuses under the dashboard, and is probably green.
Fuse F21 under the dashboard is also a suspect.

Re: 1997 XANTIA front power window MYSTERY problem
xantia_V6 : THANKS !! for the very good information about the power windows. Sorry I didn't respond sooner .
The "funny thing " is that the windows stop working after 10 minutes or so on the Freeway / Highway :
As soon as I can turn the ignition off and right back on again the windows work!

Re: 1997 XANTIA front power window MYSTERY problem
With those symptoms, I would suspect either a faulty fuse box (the one in the driver's footwell) or a corroded wire or connector somewhere in the circuit.
The fuse boxes contain printed circuit boards with soldered connections that occasionally fail due to metal fatigue of the solder, and when that happens they become thermally sensitive, either working or not working when they get hot or cold.
