I have a 508 SW 1.6 e-HDi 2013 6-Speed Robotised Manual Gearbox. Its about to reach 270000kms and while it still works alright It has been showing its wear i believe. Such as when it downshifts sometimes it has a hard time shifting to a higher gear. Not necessarily slipping big time because the spedometer still goes up but not as much as it should relatively to the RPM going up. Othertimes its too hacky when driving etc.
Obviously its always better to program. But the reason i ask is because using my diagbox i always have the issue of having 12.7V on my battery. The workaround on this is to start the car, wait a little bit, turn it off and back on and while its high on voltage you take advantage of that.
Connecting a battery only results in communication error. Ive tried to charge the battery with no luck. So my question there as well is What is the work around for it if putting a charger doesnt work? I love the car too much to not do this lol. I cant be arsed getting another extremely comforting, great economic car as this 508 SW which is why im going lengths.
Programming necessary after replacing clutch on a 508?

How old is the battery?

I think youre misunderstanding me. I cant get 12.7V when ignition only. The only time i can do to proceed with the procedure of programming is to turn the car on. And i dont think i wanna turn on the car after replacing a clutch before programing.

The open circuit voltage of a good battery can be 12.7V. Turning on the ignition will cause a drop but it should still show 12.3-6 if it s dropping more then you may have a current leak, or an accessory turned on like heated window or seat or something.

You can't program with the engine running, you need to put on a battery support / charger of some sort, or jump it off another (running) car.

Thats not what im saying either lol. Do i really speak garbage english?RichardW wrote: 30 Nov 2025, 08:35 You can't program with the engine running, you need to put on a battery support / charger of some sort, or jump it off another (running) car.
Im saying IN ORDER TO circumvent around the issue that i NEED the 12.7V to PROGRAM I usually turn on the car, let the alternator do the work to reach 14.4V and THEN i turn it off back to ignition to program it.
ANY battery charger i put I get ERROR IN COMMUNICATION. Dont matter if its a huge ass battery charger or CTEK charger. ANYTHING will cause it to error in communication. So im left with no option on how to tackle the clutch programming because i dont think youre supposed to turn on the car BEFORE programming the clutch AFTER replacing the clutch.

I understand your problem is mainly the communication error when you use external means to boost the battery. So I would suggest leaving the battery on charge with a decent charger overnight and then in the morning disconnect the charger and try to program it.
