405 temp guage

405 temp guage
my temp guage has recently been slow to register coolant temp. It eventually shows temp but the clock shows normal running temp to be lower than it used to. hot air from the heater is as normal. would i be right in suspecting the coolant temp sensor? if so, how do i test it?
