XM clock/temp display

The digital display for the clock and outside temperature is unlit. Working but cannot be easily seen. It is on a Turbo Diesel Estate car. Any ideas as to what has failed?

Similar problem with the dot matrix display, I found that the unit was working but not able to read easily, the units are sealed, and have two small capless bulbs inside - identical to the dash bulbs, but getting them out is tricky as the clips break, but it can be done, however I found it is easier to find a unit from the breakers, sorry can be of any more help !

Thanks Phil. Sounds fun. I will give it a try. I would be surprised if anything was straightforward on a Citroen. I have just had a week's torture changing a wheel bearing!!
