C5 X and audio compatibility
We have just purchased a used 2024 C5 X … 1st registered January 2025…. And since it doesn’t have a cd player … like our old C5 tourer… can I use my classic iPod? However the usb socket in the front of the car is not compatible… it is a type 3 usb and my iPod lead ends in a type 1 usb. Can I use an adapter?. Or should I buy a new cable or even a completely different iPod … or whatever is equivalent nowadays. I do not have an iPhone.

Re: C5 X and audio compatibility
A usb c adapter should work, or a cable, and is a low cost thing to try. Amazon or similar. I don’t know much about iPod copy protection, apple used to lock everything down, but if you can copy all your music onto a usb c flash drive/memory stick you can plug that in instead of cables. That’s what I do on my C4 of similar age. I can also stream from my phone but I have years worth of music files on the usb, far more than my phone can store.
If you go that route, there is a section in the handbook about file compatibility, I’ve pasted in the bit from my C4 handbook but chances are the C5 is the same.
The system supports USB Mass Storage devices
or Apple® devices via the USB sockets. The
adapter cable is not supplied.
Devices are managed using the audio system
controls.
The system will only play audio files with ".wma,
.aac, .flac, .ogg, .mp3" file extensions, at bit rates
between 32 Kbps and 320 Kbps.
It also supports VBR (Variable Bit Rate) mode.
No other file types (".mp4", etc.) can be read.
".wma" files must be of the WMA 9 standard.
The supported sampling rates are 32, 44 and
48 KHz.
To avoid reading and display problems, we
recommend choosing file names less than 20
characters long that do not contain any special
characters (e.g. “ ? . ; ù).
Use only USB memory sticks in FAT32 format

Re: C5 X and audio compatibility
I have one of these in my C5X, sits nice at the front of the centre console , almost not visible.
https://ebay.us/m/mjyn9B It's my 2nd, my first was 64Gb, but failed after a year, don't know exactly why, I could see my folders and files on my PC, but only the 1st couple of tracks in my car. I contacted Citroën, thinking I had a problem, but their thought was that it may have been corrupted during an update?
Anyway, this 32Gb one seems okay.
It's brought a smile when we realiesed what was going on, I set the system to shuffle the music, and yes, its shuffled, but playing alphabetically (it's on "B")!
