often INCORRECTLY referred to as the Me109............

Willy was the designer (with others), the designers name (initials) were never used as the official nomenclature (with exception of the company name being the same or uniquely with Kurt Tank --Ta152--but produced by FW)....the company was, eg Bf, the RML never changed the original nomenclature.

Some factories used data plates with the Me prefix after the company (BF) was "taken over" when building aircraft from the G (Gustav) versions (and rebuilds) however as said, RML used the Bf prefix related to those aircraft hence it was always the Bf109.

Same for the Bf110 as well btw....

You'll need a spare hour but I found this worth the time:

I live near IWM Duxford and have annual membership so we went along to the Remembrance day events last week including a poppy drop from a DH7.

Also the Canberra - non airworthy - that's been on loan from the RAF museum for years is going back. It's had its wings removed for low loader transport, so an unusual picture. I like the entry hatch, but like even more the instructions for anyone seeking access from the wrong side :).

Sunday 22nd March, a rare combination of circumstances (no M25 traffic jams, instant arrival of transfer bus, no wait for check in, security or anything) left me with plenty of time at Heathrow T5. After a bit of a doze I woke up and saw this out of the window...have I slept backwards for 50 years I thought ..

Turns out in 2019 BA had an Airbus A319 painted in BEA livery to mark 100 years of the origins of the Company. It got mothballed during and after COVID but is now back flying short haul UK and Europe. Tail number G-EUPJ if anyone wants to look it up on flightaware or similar

To explain to the very young who might not suffer from nostalgia, BA was formed from a merger of BEA and BOAC, the former flying BAC111s and Tridents to Europe and the latter doing the exotic stuff like VC10s to New York.
