I've searched this forum but can't seem to see this issue anywhere.
In my Citroen C5 X7 Tourer manual. It drives superbly at what I'd say are town speeds (up to 40).
At 55-70 it vibrates like a sh!tting dog unless the revs are above 2k. Its not labouring as such, just normal gear changes at just under 2k revs. When I get to say 75 it stops. The vibrations only happen when in gear and mild acceleration. If I pop it into neutral, all vibrations stop.
My thoughts are engine mountings? Clutch, but wouldn't I have the same vibration at any speed?
It can't be wheel bearings or tyres as the vibrations would continue.
Any ideas folks? Its got 84k on the clock and full history, it goes in Friday for a full service and cambelt change.
BTW newish to French cars, always had ze Germans but sick and tired of replacing suspension parts every time I change my underwear. Also like quirky cars.

As it is going in for main service and belt change next week I'd suggest you ask them to check for the vibration and see if they can find the problem. As you say not likely to be bearings or wheel balancing but maybe a CV joint?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Vibration at speed but not in neutral. C5 X7
Hi!
I have exactly the same. I bought my C5 X7 3 years ago with ~140000km.
Mine is manual. Diesel. I have not find it during test drive before buying.
It is like hiccups. Experienced only on cold engine but also not regularly. Other conditions are as in your case. Speed between 40-70 km/h, 3rd gear, slow acceleration, below 2000rpm. When I accelerate more, I mean above 2000 rpm, it stops. And do not appear until the next 'new' ride, after e.g. night, with totally cold engine.
It is sth like not delivering enough oil....
Now I have 190000km. And suffer with this from time to time. But I live with this...

Yes could be anything, i use a proper mechanic who actually fixes stuff so he should be able to find it. Great car and love it.mickthemaverick wrote: 03 Nov 2025, 12:32 As it is going in for main service and belt change next week I'd suggest you ask them to check for the vibration and see if they can find the problem. Yours sounds like a slightly different problem but like you say live with it. I have a feeling it might be engine mounts or the clutch maybe.pi14 wrote: 03 Nov 2025, 15:33 Hi!

Could be the DMF.
Is there any rattly chatter noises when you're in neutral? Does the noise change when you depress the clutch?
