C5 II ES9A Cam Dephaser Removal

Unread post by Assich »

I am actually removing the upper cam blocks to re-seal. What a job. On top of which the timing belt idler has been leaking grease so quite a clean up to do. Definitely puzzled over these as can't find any removal/install instructions online. They are part number 0805F9 Delphi with 4no. 5 star security fixings, a hex key cover in the center followed by a screw below into the camshaft judging by the parts diagram. I'm looking for info on removing and how do I hold the cam in place. Then does the 4no. 5 point security screws all me to slacken the pully for timing belt install and tensioning?

I don't know if this video will help you, I found it hard to understand so it may not but at least it might give you a guide :)

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I was not convinced he did that by the manual. I did the ES9JS in the XM I had and that included loosening the rings on the cams and pulling them round locked cams to keep the timing spot on.
