Re: Xantia rear high pressure plumbing query...
The tricky bit is the fittings, as they're not a standard size and I don't think anyone is remanufacturing them. They can however be carefully removed and crimped onto new hose - the hose itself is very standard stuff, from memory 1/4 in bore and 230 bar capable, but the brand and capability is marked on the hose itself, any equivalent hydraulic hose will do.Jon_viola wrote: 27 Oct 2025, 17:28 Sorry to jump on to your thread but I spotted that you mention a new RAM hydraulic pipe(s)- can I ask where did you get them?
Having removed the ram from the car, and then the hoses from the ram, I carefully cut off the crimped collars that hold the hose to the fittings. Holding the hose in a vice and using a cutting wheel in a Dremel did the trick - it's really important not to cut too deep and damage the fitting. Once the crimped collar is off, take the old hoses and the fittings to a helpful hydraulic hose place and they'll match the lengths and crimp new hose onto them for you. I had to phone a couple before finding one that would help, the first few I called were unwilling to reuse old fittings. I went to Nuneaton Hose and Fittings, who did a great job, clearly marked the invoice as "customer's fittings, no warranty" which is completely fair enough.

This thread was about the repair, and in the picture featuring Jasper Carrot Cat, you can make out the removed fittings lined up on the back of the vice, then the final pic is them crimped onto new hoses...

Thanks for your posts.
My googling tells me that some C5 hoses might fit.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
The mention was pretty vague.....

Out of curiosity and trying to understand your reluctance ....can I ask why you are reluctant to get the hoses repaired ?.....new old stock (which is what they will be) will be nearly 20 years old by now at the very youngest, which is old for high pressure hose !
Not seen any parts on a C5 similar.....Mk1,2.or x7

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, as you say, probably the best bet to remove repair and replace.
However, what if the connectors fail for some reason then I need a plan B in place....
