Probably not, yes he may be a very good mechanic, but if he has not worked on X7's he probably wouldn't know about the weak hydropneumatic resevoir and therefore think there would be a problem so would definately NOT search the web on how to put one on a two post lift..
stu9 wrote: 25 Oct 2025, 21:27 I did see recons from the steering superstore in Horbury Bridge for £300. Only thing is they want your rack to recondition it and send it back. Neil doesn't have the space for a car sitting for a week or more in his unit i don't think.
I see the problem, but I'm sure with a little seaching you can find a someone who has one ready to go, and then send the old one back when the swap has been completed... but........
I found the the bleeding sequence sticky described, doesn't always work, the Genuine Citroen method is to slightly pressurise the system (I used a 1/2 a sttroke of a bicycle pump), then do what Sticky described.
stu9 wrote: 25 Oct 2025, 21:27 Even now it's still ok, a bit floaty but ok.
That is because its a a hydropneumatic Citroen
stu9 wrote: 25 Oct 2025, 21:27 But it's the fact that i really don't need the high tax 3.0 twin turbo diesel saloon.

I'd be worried about spending that money on it then 6 months down the line a steering pipe goes on it, many of these pipes are no longer available.
How long is the warranty on the recon rack?
Lots of places that do steering racks now wont touch them anymore as they "are not worth the hassle" from my go to steering rack company.

Thanks for all the advice etc but I honestly don't think I will be fixing it. As I say I should never have got it.
I will try and get a small petrol automatic.

I know I guess that is life at times. I know the engine is basically good despite more or less 200000 on it but the twin turbo twin egr etc etc are potential for big bills eventually I don't need or want.
I won't say anything else as I'm sure you are fed up reading about me saying. I will just try and get on with things as best I can.
