I'm wondering if my newly aquired Boxer has a timing belt or chain - and at what point I should look into whether it's time for a replacement.
2.0 TDI 130 PS / 96 kW adblue, euro 6
Production date: 27/9-2016
It has driven 102.000 km and was first registered 02/2017. All services has been done on time.
Thanks!

Re: Timing chain or belt?
It would appear to be a belt, have a look at this site: https://www.scegliauto.com/en/video/peu ... al/101037/
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Thanks for the reply!
Do you have any tips on how to get an idea about when it is time to replace the timing belt?

Re: Timing chain or belt?
It is most likely 10 years or a mileage (maybe about 100 to 150k miles) if sooner. However, if you are keeping the vehicle you do not need to wait until then and save the worry and cost if it fails early, plus you get more years benefit of the new belt/tensioner/water pump.

Thanks for the recommendation!
I also got my hands on the manual in the meantime, it does indeed say 10 years / 150.000 km.
