Hi guys, can anybody help me out please? In a nutshell, two rotations of the Engine Flywheel End = One Rotation of the Camshafts (it seems?).
I have had the Camshafts off and replaced the Valve Seals using 'the rope method', ie, turning the engine to compress the rope at TDC to stop the bloody valves falling out. It worked great but now there is no compression. So my question is this, how can I tell on which rotation of the Engine/Flywheel is the right one to lock the bottom of the Engine with the pin, before I position the Camshafts back in their corresponding locked position? Any help appreciated guys!
Thanks,
Baz.

You can check it out with timing locking tool. I used this one and it had great pictures in the listing:

The crank has a locking with a pin from the transmission side. The camshafts have locking bracket. It sits on the cams and that part of cam is flat on one side and rounded on the other side. While in TDC, the flat side is facing up. You can even check how the lobes are facing in the pictures.

Re: Peugeot Puretech EB2FA HMR help please
Thanks my friend, but my problem is that i locked the flywheel and the camshafts in the correct position first. Removed the cambelt. Removed the spark plugs. Removed the camshafts. I then used 'the rope method' to prevent the valves from falling inside the engine while i changed the valve seals. Obviously, because of the rope method, you need to unlock the flywheel and turn the engine to move each piston up to TDC in turn, trapping the rope, then turn the engine backwards slightly to release the trapped rope for removal before moving on to the next cylinder. All went well, (I thought!). I locked the flywheel. Reinstalled the camshafts in the correct position and checked with the locking tool. Then turned the engine over by hand and all seemed ok. But now, there is no gap to measure between the camshaft and the valve/cap. There is no compression either. So as there are two complete revolutions of the flywheel but only one complete revolution of the camshafts per each complete engine cycle i thought, because i had moved the engine, that i had replaced the camshafts in the wrong way. They were now 180 degrees out of sync with where they should be. I tried adjusting them by 180 degrees, checked with the timing tools, but still no gap at the camshaft valve/cap and still no engine compression? Maybe the new valve seals have screwed up the measurements? Any ideas guys???
Thanks,
Baz.
