Any advice on finding parts

Unread post by DonnaS »

Hi
I have a '99 406 coupe V6 and I'm trying to find the bracket/cap that goes over the suspension arm bush ( left rear). The original has finally rusted through and spat the bush out but I can find replacement bushes OK but not the bracket for it. The garage I normally use can't find any, Peugeot don't supply them anymore and the only thing that looked vaguely like it online was from a company in Singapore...I don't fancy my chances with it..
Any inspiration would be gratefully appreciated

I assume you are referring to number 14 in the attached, in which case this will give you a part number to do an online search for:
406 - D8C 5 51A65A - TRAILING ARM REAR SWIVEL PIN.pdf
Copied from Servicebox backup
(164.8 KiB) Downloaded 126 times
I also found this if it is of any help, they may have the other side if there is a difference, which I don't think there is or the list would show left and right as for other parts at the top of the list.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I'm not sure if there's a difference between the rear suspension of a D8 and a D9 406. I have never owned a D8.

But please be aware that a 1999 model 406 could also be a D9. I have one! It is sometimes a pain in the neck having a car in the crossover year, but it is still my favourite car.

Try Dean Hunter at www.peugeotparts.co.uk he deals in new and used Peugeot parts. He is also a "Peugeot Boffin" and can give advice.

It's good to know that Dean is still about!

I had him as a contact years ago, but after sending messages and not receiving any replies from him for quite some time, I removed him from my 'active' list. I shall reverse that soon.

I had no luck getting hold of Dean either, there was nothing in stock on the parts list but I was hoping if I could speak to someone there might be something laying around forgotten.
Not to be! I'll have to get creative and make something up 😬

Dean was very slow replying to emails, he also had a irritating telephone manner, but he always came up with the right parts for my classic Peugeot, and gave me good advice.
Dean Snr must be retired now? Last time I met him, a few years ago, he cleared our sheds of old Peugeot stuff. He was with his son who he said was going to take over the business.
May be contact details have changed ?

This is Dean Hunter Junior contact details. He is operating from the same premises, so all the old Peugeot parts must be still there. Best give him a phone call.

Or https://alvadi.co.uk/spare-parts/peugeot/406-8-1996/

I don't know what they're like delivering to the U.K., but they promise 5-day delivery to Australia with free shipping if you order over a certain amount (always calculated in Euros). That's not very clear, sorry. The 5-day delivery is not dependent upon ordering over that certain amount; it is whether or not you order that amount.

I was sceptical of it, but on the Saturday of the Easter weekend - in between Good Friday and Easter Sunday - I had my delivery, the 5th day after I had placed my order.
Cheers,
Andrew
