Unread post by climo22 »

Hi all I have a c4 grand picasso exclusive 1.6 diesel 2016

Also if I unlock the doors they open and the power folding mirrors don't come out and boot don't open as above when I get in and start I get a warning tone and message saying fog light fault and service light on if I turn on headlights and fog lights the service light goes of could this be to do with battery change thanks for any help

Hi . . .
I have exactly the same intermittent problem . . .
Open the car . . It unlocks, but door mirrors don't open and boot will not open.
Push the 'Start/Stop' button . . Just tells you to press the pedal. you press the pedal and button . . Nothing! . No starting!!
Any ideas?
(I connected by basic OBD2tester and played around . . Tried to input manually the 'VIN', etc. . . . (It doesn't see it automatically . . ?!)
Suddenly, all springs into life . . The door mirrors opened and I could start the car . . .???????)

You can try it and ignore the window bit.
I had to leave mine at work on night when it wouldn't start. Removed the battery and charged it overnight then refitted it the following evening and went through the sequence skipping the window/lights bit.
Was OK as far as it went but still wouldn't start as it was the starter turning too slowly.
Did get it fired up eventually and took it to the garage up the road to have a new starter fitted.
This was in a 52 reg C5 HDi.

Had to do it again due to a flat battery and it was the same, but this time sat inside as a glamorous assistant connected the battery so no opening of doors involved.

Hi Myglaren . . .
Thanks or the reply . .
However, my car does nothing, other than opening the door locks . . Mirrors do not swing open . . No starter motor . .
'Start/Stop' button just gives a message . . 'Press the foot pedal' . .with no response when done.
After half an hour or so of playing around, suddenly the door mirrors swung out and could start the car.
Has been OK since . . But when will it happen again. . . ?????
(I completed a BSI reset when I replaced the battery . . (With the correct type . . ) . . and had no problems.
I keep my OBD tester in the car just in case it was that that kicked it back into life.
I, personally, think it is related to voltage sensing. . . "Computer says no . . !!"
In the old days it would at least try and turn over, even with a flattish battery.
So frustrating issue when this happens. . . . :-(

Hi All . . .
Think I have resolved my problem . . .
Got myself a more decent diagnostic unit and found, amongst others, an error 'B1624-72' relating to the 'supplies protection and management unit' . . the 'BPGA' unit near to the battery.
To sort a replacement one, I was looking at a couple of hundred quid. . . So looked on 'YouTube' and a chap was showing that dirty fuse/connections could be the issue . . Not necessarily the relay.
So I spent an hour or so removing one at a time and giving fuses and connections a good clean with emery cloth.
There were signs of oxidising.
Afterward I ran my diagnostic scan again . . .The above error was gone. . . Plus a couple of others that kept returning were gone.
So well worth a try.

Good result. The symptoms were exactly like my Picasso last year, ( I no longer have it for other reasons ) but ended up with a replacement BPGA after which it was fine. Cost me about 600 fitted at a decent independent garage, former Citroen dealer.

To begin with it just unlocked with no other things happening but would respond after several minutes and several tries. Each day it took longer and more attempts. I was on holiday on Orkney, the scary bit was the ferry back, restarted just in time, last car off. Among all the other things that don't work, mirrors, tailgate etc., the handbrake won't release. How can you drag a car if the handbrake is on?

Took ages to restart after an overnight break, next day filled it with diesel and drove 550 miles without turning the engine off, took it in turns to wait with car while the other used the toilets at services.

All was well in the end, but it's such a total failure it's not nice.
