C3 Picasso 1.4 VTi fresh air pipe / ECU & battery cover

Unread post by JonB »

Hello

First post here! I recently bought a 2009 C3 Picasso 1.4VTi from a used car dealer. It appears to be missing its battery and ECU covers. I have not seen a picture of these covers, so do not know what to look for when scanning car parts listings. Can any 1.4 VTi owners post a picture of their battery covers, please?

Secondly, I noticed a corrugated fresh air pipe (it's fed from a sccop behind the front grille) which is loose. It appears to go under the air intake pipe (that feeds the engine's air filter) and is clipped to the side of the battery / ecu tray. It's got some teeth in the end that would clip it into its destination, but I cannot see where it is supposed to go. Can anyone advise, please? I think it might be for cooling the ECU but without the cover I can't be sure. It's about the diameter of a thumb (20mm at a guess). Sorry I can't post a picture right now, because it is back at the dealer's having some repairs (exhaust bracket welding, engine management warning light on, oil level sensor fault plus some others). Good job it was cheap..

Thanks

While it is at the dealers you should ask them to sort the pipe as well!! :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Exhaust brackets rusting off are a common thing but you can get clamp on replacements at autodoc for around £20 to £30. This is a lot cheaper than paying for welding or a new exhaust. Our Cactus has two I recently put on and a previous C3 also needed one.

Here is a picture of a 1.6 hdi and it does not have a battery cover https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/277336382343 ... gI9TvD_BwE

@PaulC5 I'm not paying for the welding - it's a warranty thing. The 1.6 is quite different to the 1.4 but thanks for the piccie. (I think it's supposed to have a battery cover, it's just missing on this particular car.) Good idea to check eBay listings! [Edited to add: And Autotrader. Seems the 1.4 VTi is pretty rare - most are 1.6.]

@mickthemaverick I've asked them, but their mechanic is so thick he told me the pipe is there to cool the engine by blowing cold air on it! Errr, right - so it's really not obvious where the pipe should go.
