Shame it is in American. Intolerable. :(

I bought my son another laptop when he wrecked his last one. Second hand and had been from a school.

Windows forced an update that locked him out, needed a valid email address at the school.
I thought "OK, I'll just chuck Linux on it", which has always been simple enough in the past.
Couldn't do it. Not for Windows but for all the stupid hurdles in the BIOS, disabled some of them but there was a serious chance of bricking it so have had to hand it over to people who do this for a living, who will reinstall Windows. Good as he is familiar with Windows, bad as it is Windows.
But the problem wasn't Windows, much as I would like to blame it, but the laptop manufacturer imposing so many restrictions.

Would have taken it back to where I bought it but they were gone, vape shop now :(

I do have Dell laptop myself, again second hand and previously owned by a business.
It took half an hour to install Linux on it and will never see Windows again. Probably about 16 years old, maybe more, I have been using it for the past ten years. Better then the newer laptop that I use the most but sidelined as the sound output is shot so I can't pipe audio through a hifi/stereo as I do with the other one. It does have decent internal speakers but no batch for an external amp and speaker option.

I've been using Windows since I bought my first Amstrad computer and through all its versions up to Windows 10, it's done everything I've needed in both my business use and since retiring, I see no need to get into the geek stuff like Linux and such. :)

If it works for you then stick with it. I used to use it and build my own computers and those for friends and family.
I too fell for the reputation that Linux is difficult and geeky but tried it, bought it from a computer fair for £23 when Windows was much, much more.
Installing (from 5 CDs) was simple and quick, easier than Windows and right from the start it said "Found a modem, do you want to use it"? a click on "Yes" and that was it. Much trickier with Windows.
And it continues like that so I have stuck with it. Works for me and what I do.
Also, cheap (as in free) :)

Saw a YT video yesterday that described thousands of computers being binned as they are unsuitable for W11, also showed a significant increase in the use of Linux replacing Windows.

I just upgraded Linux again. Set it away then went to wash up.
It usually stops and asks to be rebooted but when I returned fifteen minutes later it was all done, had rebooted and was waiting to be used. No glitches whatsoever and seems to be running a bit quicker.
