Ours doesn't have to ask, she jumps onto the wheelie bin outside the kitchen window and gives you a black look if SWMBO is late with her breakfast or dinner!! We have a complete cupboard full of cat food and we don't own a cat!! :-D

Sometimes I really do wonder who is running our stores: :-D
Spotted in our B&Q store.
Spotted in our B&Q store.
Surprise surprise I went for the 1litre and then had to pass an age verification test at the self service checkout, except you need an assistant to verify your age!! Unfortunately the assistant I got didn't have a clue so I got her to put her pin in and completed the process myself!!  :-D

Marketing!

You think the big one is a bargain - or better yet "stock up" and get two. Following a run on the"cheap" one litre, if they run out they can still flog the half litre stuff to folks who are buying it out of necessity!

Customers can be 'had' because they really are easy to mug. :-D
One of my customers was a stall holder in Blackpool, he sold gloves, he bought them by the sack full, all seconds from the factory, all the same, displayed them on his stall at three different prices cheap better and best, the best always sold out first then he moved the others into the 'best' tray over and over again.

Why? Are the yoofs now getting high on inhibitor? Maybe they drink it to remove all theirs

Whatever, it's bonkers of the highest order... And so's the pricing policy although it's not the first time I've seen it...

This may interest some, a Guardian article about Don McCullin, who did among other thins a lot of war photography. I used to see a lot of his stuff in the BJP in the seventies and eighties.

Thanks for posting that Steve... Some very emotive and disturbing images there and all taken with huge skill. Quite incredible.

One of my favourite pictures to date :D
2025-10-30-0006.jpg
I took it indoors, under very low light conditions with the lens wide open and handheld at 1/45th second.

I could not use a flash due to a newborn being nearby... The subject did not pose - she tries to do all she can to spoil a photo - as toddlers are apt to do... I'm getting good at catching her unawares - occasionally...

Given the conditions I'm very pleased with it indeed. It's only had very minimal post-processing: just a slight change of black level and a small contrast increase.

Taken using a Canon EOS30, 50mm f1.8 prime lens, Ilford HP5+ at 400ASA and developed in Ilfotec LC29...

Excellent photo Jim and all the better for being monochrome. Beautiful expression on her face and nicely captured 'movement'.
Autumn will love it when she is older. Make her a good 10x12" framed print and she will treasure it.

That's a good plan Steve :D I'm thinking a print on textured paper might look good...

There were some other absolutely cracking shots of the girls on that roll. Unusually, only a very few I considered to be not worth scanning.

Using a lens with good, quick autofocus and image stabilisation is the only way to catch great shots of a youngster unawares ;) Especially one that refuses to cooperate!

That's the beauty of having a late, high-end Canon film camera - they use the same EF lenses as the later Canon Digital SLRs.

Another one I rather like :D This is the current background image on my laptops and phone.

Canon EOS30, Canon EF 28-135mm IS lens, Ilford HP5+ at 400ASA and developed in Ilfotec LC29.

HP5+ film and Ilfotec LC29 developer is a very good combination. Next, I'm going to 'push' a roll of HP5+ to 800ASA and see how that turns out after a dip in LC29 for the appropriate time...

Watch this space ;)
