I have a 2012 508 Gt (2.2HDI) that has the JBL radio with amp in the boot. It went silent for hours/days/weeks/months at a time then worked perfectly again.
I have replaced the amp unit and each time it works perfectly for a while, then goes silent again, but the head unit gives every indication of working.
We noticed that when it is silent, the passenger "seatbelt not in use" light and audible alarm do not work either, although they do work for the driver's seat.
Is this indicative of a Canbus problem? Or any other suggestions?

I believe there are multi connectors under the seats which may be causing your problem. As you have passenger errors I'd have a look under the passenger seat first and check the plugs and sockets are clean and tightly joined.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Thanks Mick. The infuriating thing about intermittent faults is that they're not always there when you're trying to trace them.
The radio worked fine this morning, even with the main passenger seat connector disconnected, so maybe that says it's not the connectors ............
