the hydrolic suspention pump on my c5 died. i followed the usual path of the wireing and found it was the fuse next to the battery, the one down the side. after replacing it, it blew again. so i removed the pump to find it was indeed full of gunk. cleaning it the best i could with brake cleaner and air. i have wired it back into the car, but left the cap off the pump so as i could see it moving, whitch it does. My concern is that the cap for the pump seems to be very tight. any tips would be welcome. thanks

Could you post a pic of the cap which is concerning you, ideally upside down so we can see the inside surface

I think he means the cap on the reservoir that you loosen off when jacking the car up in the air. And that it's a bit of a struggle to unscrew it and tighten it up again.

Well, it's a bit heavy to loose it, there is a bit of pressure inside, and also a rubber ring, but just put your hand firmly on and then turn it loose.

Re: 2009 C5 suspentiopn pump refit
Hi everyone,,
thanks for the reply's.
my description was a bit incomplete, it was the end of the motor, the end cap that goes over the brushes . it just seemed to be tight when it snapped into position. i took the chance and bolted it down and the motor is running freely.
I do apologise for the vagueness. but i do have one more question.
It concerns the refilling of the system. I will try to explain as accurately as i can,,
The suspension pump stopped working.
Discovered it was shorting out inside the pump, due to fluid ingress.
To remove the pump i jacked up and chocked the right hand side.
Removed the wheel to access the reservoir pipe.
Drained the fluid from the reservoir.
Disconnected the two high pressure/screw in pipes, (more fluid leaving the system).
Removed the hydraulic suspension pump, cleaned it out.
Returned it to the engine bay, bolted it down, reconnected the high pressure pipes.
----------
My question is...do i know have to bleed the system to remove air from it, before filling, and if so, can i do it without a lexia or other.
ps
This is my first time asking for help on a forum, so forgive my ignorance.
I suspect that i may have not followed the correct procedure, i do not have access to diagnostic equipment, nor the funds but what i do have is five liters of LDS.
Hope that explains my predicament.
Thank you.....nib

Re: 2009 C5 suspentiopn pump cap
First thing is the suspension at it's lowest level. This is the only way to accurately refill to correct level.
There is the how to guide to empty and refill the suspension posted on the forum by Marc (Give me a break) under

Re: 2009 C5 suspentiopn pump cap
So this means the pomp was completely empty, because you removed it from the car.
When you replaced it and fill with the lds, you have to supply around 0.5 bar at the tank so the fluid will come in the compressor of the pomp, otherwise there's a chance that the pomp get to hot and burn.
