What is going on here!

Unread post by jimmernet »

Hullo,

This is a real puzzle for me - see if you guys can solve it!

Following on from a previous post - keep getting P1490 - driving condions not met. No other DTCs at all. This is a 2017 boxer with 2.2tdi Puma engine, with only 12,000 miles on the clock. It's a horse box that I've just brought, with no history. I can see that it's got an after market BM DPF fitted, so there has been some poking around on this issue in the past.

I've replaced the vaporizer with an OEM one- the old vaporizer came out with no heat needed and only had a light coating of soot - no blocks - looked fine.

Made no change - DPF and engine lights remained on along with the " keep driving blah blah"

Then the Launch X471 came in the post..

Checked the vaporizer motor by venting to a bottle- no problem
Performed "replacement part" on the pump anyway

Performed ..

- Test of Pre-post heating unit
- diesel injection at exhaust dosing pump actuator test
- check the pressurisation of the air entering the engine

.. all with no errors

Tried to perform " Forced regeneration of the particle filter, vehicle stationary"

immedialty come back with "Activation done - problem occurred during the operation - conditions of execution not satisfied"

Plugged got the diags - see image..

So maybe the values for dpf change are correct. I went on the MOT history and could see that the mileage at the MOT was about when the ecu reported dpf change.

Now here's the thing - it's never performed a regen since dpf went in. Something is stopping it...

I'm out of ideas and taking it in to a specialist. Will report back, but I'm interested in the views of the forum- let me know your theories on this..

Cheers!

..I should also say I ragged it down the motorway with the diag running and recorded a max temp of around 300C on the exhaust - nothing close to 600C. It' def got a block - the pressure was up around 300mbar - nnot yet in limp mode, but it's in the post I think

It could also be that matey boy had the DPF fitted a good whil eback, and it did regen, but being aftermarket, it burnt its self up, and wont respond to further regens even when the guy who did the MOT reset the DPF change flag.
