C5X Ac pressure sensor

Unread post by xf1ref »

Hello All,

Some time ago I found some traces of oil on the Ac pressure sensor on my new C5X. Showing to the dealer they said that the amount of refrigerant is ok after cheking, and there is no case for warranty and also is needed to change the hole pipe. Strange enough when the sensor can be removed but they showed me the operation when the sensor is faulty.
Does anyone knows if the ac pressure sensor have a secure valve? so after removing the refrigerant will not escape. I want to change on my own the oring of the sensor.

I think no, if you remove the sensor the refrigerant will escape.

I do not know for sure but it is unlikely that there is a valve within the mount that will close if you remove the sensor. Normally you need to depressurise the aircon before disconnecting anything and you are likely to lose refrigerant. It is best to have the system emptied before changing anything and then refilled after the work is complete. :)

As an addition to Micks comment above, remember that the refrigerant also acts as a lubricant, so get it depressurise, repaired and then refilled as quick as possible so you don't run the pump to long without refrigerant. I'm not sure, but short from pulling a fuse i don't think the air-conditioning can be turned off!

Thanks all for feedback. I was hoping to have a secure valve like in the video for C3. In this way it was very simple to change the sensor/o-ring.

The video begins with an overwritten message saying you must drain the system first, I don't believe that there is a valve in there. Also his last words are to fill and test the system! :)

Yep, but is not mandatory if the sensor have a secure valve. This secure valve is used in most AC circuits to not lose the refrigerant when unscrewing the sensor.
And is very similar with the valves used on high/low pressure ports.
