mk1 2003 2.0 hdi gear selector

gear selector lights on my auto mk1 c5 not working all lights work apart from them i looked but cant find a answer any ideas

Not certain about this but assuming you mean the gear indication lights beside the lever I suspect the earth connection to the backing plate may be corroded. I had that on mine and a good clean sorted it out.

My 2002 C5 has the gear display only as LED's below the fuel gauge.

my c5 has it on the display as well on the lever does urs have manual seletor as well

Yes, the manual selector shows in the LED display under the fuel gauge.
There is also printing to the left of the gearstick.
I thought that I posted a photo of that yesterday but it looks like I didn't get it right.

but does the selector light up to show when you move the stick

Apart from the illumination on the Snow & Sport buttons i dont think gear position symbols are meant to illuminate??

No, there are no lights to the gear selector.
The only lights are for the snow and sport buttons.
