Peugeot 206 transmission AL4 overhating / strange behaviour
Dear people, I'm facing following problem: when I'm driving for the long distance, the AT AL4 starts to switch between gears on very high RPMs - around 5000 instead of 2800. This is happening only after at least 80 kilometers of continuous run, so I can never show this to my mechanics... Not long ago I have bought ELM327 OBD2 sensor (do it if you are doubting!) and now I know that this is happening when AT fluid temerature rises close to 120 C. On temperatures below 100 C it behaves ok. So, what could be the solution? Thanks a lot in advance.

You may hv a clogged AT oil cooler or maybe low AT oil.

Thank you. May it be AT solenoids issue?

Sorry to jump onto an old thread but did you manage to get this sorted? I am having the same issue... Also, do you have a link to the ELM327 OBD2 sensor you used? I cannot seem to find it online.

I think he meant scanner when he said sensor. If you put 'ELM327 OBD2' into ebay you will get hundreds of options.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Thanks Mickthemaverick- I assumed scanner also... I have had a quick browse on Ebay and there are LOTS of options but none of them specify the ability to read Transmission Oil Temperature. There are also options for a mobile app version or a PC/ Desktop version, I seem to think that a PC version would be more robust/ have more available options but I am not sure?mickthemaverick wrote: 11 Sep 2025, 17:38 I think he meant scanner when he said sensor. I will include below a link to a scanner I have seen which may be worth a try? I have had confirmation from the supplier that it will communicate with a 2007 Peugeot 207cc unless I am missing something, this seems ok?

Apologies- the above attached is not compatible it turns out... Does anyone have any recommended scanners to view transmission oil temperature?
