Dear colleagues,
I am planing to have my FAP cleaned. The car reached 250 000 km and the intervals between the FAP regeneration are getting shorter. When is the reasonable time to have the FAP replaced/cleaned?
How to remove the rusted sensors connected to the FAP? Are there any tips, how to remove the FAP from the car? Will be grateful for any hints!
Regards
Karel

I don't run a DPF(FAP) equipped vehicle now but when I did I used to clean the DPF every 2 years so say 30000 miles. I used to take it off the car and soak in a brick acid bath for 90 minutes and then flush it out forwards and backwards with a normal hose. Don't use a pressure washer as it can damage the internals. Finally dry it properly with a hot air gun and refit. As for the sensors, spray penetrating oil all round them and leave them overnight, then you should be able to get them out with an impact gun if they still won't budge with a ratchet!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
