Re: What was your first car and first repair you did to it.
My first car was a Citroen BX 19 TZD. I cannot remember all of the repairs I did (there were a few, but not that many), but I remember having to epoxy a connector in place on the rear windscreen (and then use conductive silver paint) to get the heated rear window working.

It works very well until some idiot knocks over the tin and the paint pours across the top of the battery!! That was an enlightening experienceHuskyxantia wrote: 01 Sep 2025, 18:38 Oh the conductive paint ! Yes I used that in a mk2 escort ! Works well

Very simple situation really!! I was painting over the break in my RS2000's roof mounted spot light earth path and I had balanced the paint tin on the rocker cover when my ex called me and as I turned to answer my elbow knocked the tin flying straight onto the battery. There was a moment or two panic followed by a bright flash which fortunately fused the paint stream and it stopped!! New battery was required!!Huskyxantia wrote: 01 Sep 2025, 18:46 Oops , always wondered how that stuff was made. Come on mick tell us all we're all poised now lol![]()

Wow , not as bad a chap I knew whom charged his car battery then decided to put a spanner on both terminals to see if it was fully charged , his face gave the answer to that when he was walking around for a few weeks with burns on it

Ford 100e side valve Prefect.
Replaced the vacuum wipers with electric unit from scrappy.
Great success which became a profitable sideline once word got around.

I managed to get 5 in a Sunbeam Alpine with the hard top fitted. Four girls and me.
Absolutely hate modern cars and being ripped off by garages that play parts roulette.
