Clutch and Flywheel.

Unread post by Jmr146 »

So my clutch is definitely on the way out and think the flywheel too. When I search 2 different Valeo options come up. One asks for Transm type MC6 and Engine code DW10FD. I think this is the one I need but can't do D out where to confirm these codes.

My VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Thanks for any help.

That's a solid flywheel, think I need a dual mass flywheel.
Thanks

Actually, it's a solid flywheel conversion kit for an originally equipped dual mass flywheel. So, could be used if you want to convert.

I think I'm going to keep the Dual Mass but on the 2 kits I find 1 says transmission codes MC6 and the other says ML6C but both are 6 speed manuals. How would I find what's on my car? Sorry if I sound stupid. 🤔

Thanks

My take on it could be One might identify as dual and the other as solid ,solid as it is solid , the dual has a dual set up with springs and so on , ask the ebay seller they should confirm ,

That one doesn't fit my car, I've got a 2.0 Hdi. I've found 2 Valeo clutch kits for the same sort of piece but they have different transmission codes and don't want to buy the wrong one. I may have to pay for a build sheet to get the transmission code for my car.

Ask a Citroen/DS dealer for a price for the parts using your vin/no. plate and they should give the part numbers as part of this. Then use the part numbers if looking for alternative suppliers.

Our Cactus needed a new clutch/flywheel recently and we got the dealer to fit it since their cost was similar to that of an independent garage who was also going to fit Citroen parts, still expensive though at about £2100. It was not just the clutch and flywheel, there was the gear box oil, new driveshaft oil seals, reverse light switch (not sure why), 3 pins, 12 screws, 1 column screw - the total for parts was £1073 (clutch/flywheel £937) and labour almost the same.

Ive done that myself a few times and it works , dealers are fairly good at giving the sheets with all the bits and bobs on which is very useful. Till you get a full page and its full of out of stock or obsolete. But the part numbers are useful for cross reference online
