What Paint

Unread post by shtu »

Regualr readers will know I have a Berlingo Multispace, and as I've more-or-less got the thing working properly these days, attention turns to the cosmetics.

The front bumper is this style, https://vans.honestjohn.co.uk/media/_v6 ... ce%201.jpg and the silver parts are painted in a satin finish silver. It's scruffy and could do with a repaint.

Does anyone know the correct paint for this?

Your paint code should be on a sticker somewhere in the car. Typically on one of the B-pillars when you open the door (sticker locations should be in the handbook as well). The paint code should be 4 letters. For example, my 2L C5 says KJCD, which is actually KJC (for some reason the last letter doesn't count). KJC is Eritrean red. My 3L is KTVD (so just KTV) which is Pearl black nera.

That gets the main body colour, not the silver trim colour.

Ah, I assumed the trim was body coloured and it just happened to be silver in your case. I'm not sure how to get that code if there even is one. It might just be coloured plastic with a satin coat of some sort as opposed to painted plastic.

Are you sure the vehicle had a separate colour for the bumper bits? Or could it of been done afterwards? Or it's a replacement bumper from another vehicle.

OK, the picture of a silver van has confused the audience. :D Let's try this one,

(autotrader, so hopefully the ad stays up for a bit)

All the early B9 multispace has this mock-bullbar effect on the front.

The silver bits are, as far as I can tell, painted, and part of the bumper moulding.

That looks rather like the silver used on most Citroen/Peugeot alloy wheels and trims. I have previously found the code for that colour and was able to get a can of paint mixed. I will try to find the code.

Thank you Mr _v6.

I will admit, I had thought about a rattlecan of wheel silver. :D
