ACC fault / limp mode / C5x

Unread post by GmanC »

Doing a few posts at the moment :-?

So twice today a warning was triggered that the ACC was unavailable when the car was turned on then shortly after driving it went into limp mode. It's only 20 months old with 3.6k on the clock so I'm a little bit miffed TBH. I've only had the car 5 days so it's going to get recovered back to the dealer to be looked at as I don't want to risk being stuck doing 30mph on the A1 😮. I did run the internal diagnostics on the menu which returned 'ok' but doubt it's anywhere being in-depth.

Anyone experience anything similar and what was the outcome? Is ACC automatically engaged and does it come under the general driver assist system as I'm unable to find anything remotely in the menu about CC / ACC? Not sure why loss of ACC would trigger limp mode either 🤔

Thanks Mike. Took the car out this morning and engine repair light came on and limp mode. However after stopping the car for 20 mins and starting again the fault had cleared so it's intermittent. Got me thinking if this could be a battery issue as often spurious faults can get thrown up. It has a Chinese EFB fitted and I know there's been queries about their quality so perhaps a starter for 10 is get a decent branded battery fitted 🤔

Possibly as good a plan as any at this point. I'm assuming ACC refers to Automatic Cruise Control not Accessories and so I wouldn't be surprised if it is interlinked with the stop/start system if you have it. A poor battery is frequently the problem when that plays up!! :)

Yeah it's cruise control which didn't appear today but engine repair has which just isn't feasible bearing in mind age and mileage of the car. Anyway I'll mention to the dealer this morning. It's a Leoch battery btw.

So took the car down to the dealer I got the car from today and they promptly run the diagnostics. Upshot it's a failed high pressure fuel pump which may take 3 weeks to sort 🙄. Turns out that there's a bulletin out for this failure so those of you with a 1.2 Puretech worth noting.
Anyway to give the dealership their due they had a Kia estate on standby so we continued on our week's holiday - dog, mother in law and all 😅

All sorted now and rather taking up to 3 weeks to fix, took them 6 days. Everything now nice n smooth 😊 Gratifying that there's no issue getting parts but I suppose the pump will be common throughout the 1.2 PT engine range.
