Hi,
Please could someone help me diagnose the noise I get from the power steering on my 2006 1.6HDI Citroen C5 Estate?
I had a minor LDS fluid leak. I replaced the hoses that were leaking, drained the system, and put all new TOTAL LDS fluid in up to the maximum mark. I bled the power steering as per the Haynes manual. But ever since then I have had a strange growling groaning noise that occasionally happens when turning the steering wheel a lot.
I have tried bleeding it again (using an easy bleed, with suspension on max height, engine running, and turning the wheel lock-to-lock repeatedly).
Is there anything else, I should be doing?
Please note, the car never did this before the hose change.

Re: Noisy power steering after fluid change
Since you've replaced all the hoses I'm wondering if one of them is stretching and relaxing under pressure while rubbing on something causing the noise? It is possible that a new hose is over flexi, try refitting the old hose from resevoir to pump and see if that relieves it.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Hmm. I thought I was careful to avoid that, but I will investigate that further. Thank you for the advice.
I can’t refit the old hose, because I don’t have it anymore, but I will check for rubbing and stretching.

Pump noise could be due to an air leak in the suction hose between the tank and the pump.
