I have a 2011 Peugeot 508. The radio suddenly stopped working and won't turn on. The main display and parking sensors also don't work. When I try to turn on the radio, I can hear the fan, and then every 15 seconds there's a sound like a jammed CD reader. I've never used CDs, and I've tried everything, but there's no sound.
Here's a picture of how it looked while it was working

Re: Peugeot 508 radio problem
The first thing to do is check all the fuses and then do a BSI reset following the procedure in the link below. Once that is done if you still have trouble you will need to have a diagnosis of the system: viewtopic.php?p=601679#p601679

Re: Peugeot 508 radio problem
On our 2019 308 the touch screen stopped working, just showed the Peugeot logo and when in reverse the rear view camera was on. The radio and heating were stuck on the last settings. The dealer diagnosed it as needing a new radio which with fitting and programming was about £1500.

Re: Peugeot 508 radio problem
I was offered £1500 for my MX3 this week, better value than a radio in my book!!

Re: Peugeot 508 radio problem
We did think about changing the 308 but without having the radio fixed the touch screen did not work making a lot of things on it useless, no aircon (last setting was just blowing outside air in), no sat nav, unable to change radio station but at least the car could still be used. If we did part ex it the trade in would have been reduced a lot. Also considered a used radio but it would have needed to be programmed by the dealer if they would fit it.mickthemaverick wrote: 17 Aug 2025, 13:24 I was offered £1500 for my MX3 this week, better value than a radio in my book!!![]()

Re: Peugeot 508 radio problem
In my mind that type of incident just emphasises the futility of modern cars, a classic case of 'All your eggs........ ' It is ludicrous that you can't use the aircon because the radio is broken for example let alone all the otherwise discreet systems that are rendered useless by the failure of one component. Granted such systems are warranted sometimes eg if the cambelt breaks the car is useless but that is not the same as making parts which could work independently entirely reliant on a single 'hub' to enable their use.

Re: Peugeot 508 radio problem
I managed to copy the files onto the micro SD card and installed the 2.86 B1 firmware. However, I no longer get the to large display showing when the doors are open, and the motore temperature is not shown on the main screen anymore. On the small screen it says 'radio off', but the radio is actually working. Also, the maps are missing. What steps should I take to restore these functions?

Re: Peugeot 508 radio problem
I would imagine that Mirascripts would be able to sort all that out but I have no first hand knowledge of how to do the job.
I can supply a link to the map data but you may prefer to fix all those problems first.
