2015 c4 Picasso alternator pulley spot welded

Good morning, I have a 2015 1.6 diesel vtr+ I have had the timing belt and aux belt and tensioner replaced.
I have just taken it back to the garage that replaced the auxilliary belt and they have identified the secondary pulley tensioner needs replacing which they are getting on with.

My question this time is, they have identified that the pulley on the alternator has been spot welded to the shaft. And that a replacement alternator is going to cost £1000 fitted.
Could someone advise the correct alternator I need a I am seeing them from less than £300 to more than £600 and is this a relatively simple (on the drive) fix for someone with a little mechanical experience?

Why do you need to replace the alternator, is it not charging the battery ?

I’m asking advice as the reason i have been lead to believe is it is supposed to be able to free wheel in certain circumstances to prevent it prematurely wearing out.

A grand, are they on drugs or do they take you as a mug'? It's a freewheel in pulley, the pulley costs about £35, assuiming you can get one, but when the pulley failed on our C5 x7 with the 3.0 v6 diesel, that meant a new, £335 alternator as neither of two autosparkies who I trust could get the correct pulley. That being said, for £665-935, I'll change your alternator for you...

If the alternator is working and the aux belt is lasting many years I would be tempted to leave the alternator as is.

I had mine done, as said £35.
It was a bit more as it had taken the dual-mass crank pulley and the drive belt with it. Still only £167 though.
