Oil in MAF sensor

Oil in MAF sensor
My son is getting oil creeping up the electrical lead to the sensor and fouling it. What are the causes of this. Vehicle is an RHR HDI.

A photo or two of the sensor wiring and a wider angle of location of the unit may help suggestions.
