What's "auto stop"

Unread post by Vic Evans »

My wife's C4 has just broken down with it saying 'Auto stop' or something like that. She said it made a 'clunking' sound & then just cut out.
She's trying to get hold of breakdown to get it to our local garage at the moment.
I'm sat at home feeling pretty useless .
Any ideas what it could be?

What engine is in it? Sounds awfully like the cambelt has failed....

1.6 Hdi .
It had new dealer fitted cam belt last year.
Engine turns over.
She's on breakdown wagon at the mo. on way to our local Citroen garage who've serviced it fro new. Breakdown guy thinks it might be fuel pump or similar problem.
First time I've ever experienced a car break down away from home. Good job I've still got the ever faithfull Pug 806

Mme has just picked up her C4 from garage.
It appears that the alternator belt broke & possibly did something to the electrics. She's not sure ????
Bill for 0.75 hrs lab plus new belt.
Description says " controle circuit electrique + remplacement courroie" (electrical circuit check + belt replacement)
Any road, about 24 hours from breakdown to recovery to garage to repair/collection can't be bad especially as France is pretty much closed during August holiday month.
Garage bill 70.93€, Breakdown truck paid by her insurance.
