C5X fuses
Hi everyone, newbie here, recently purchased a C5X Shine Plus, 6 months old, loving it! I want to identify the location of the fuse for the 12v socket, so I can piggy back a live feed for dashcams, but no information on fuses within the manual. Does anybody know where I can get hold of a list of the fuses to identify correct one? The fusebox is easily accessible behind the glovebox. Thanks. Andy

Re: C5X fuses
This is from page 175 of the manual which advises against work on the fuses. If you do anything it may impair your warranty. I'd suggest you power your camera etc from the aux socket already wired into the car.:

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Adding to Micks reply, I know of an owner who was trying to identify a problem, and he kept pulling fuses, he ended up with 17 faults that had to be cleared by the dealer - expensive!

Re: C5X fuses
This has been a constant annoyance for me. I bought a Halfords electric coolbox, the one that looks like an armrest, before my holiday around northern Europe in May/June. It worked fine for a few weeks then suddenly stopped at the end of June. I checked the power socket in the boot and it was dead. Since then I have chased an answer around the internet. Chat GPT gave the location of the fuse boxes as under the bonnet, forward of the battery, and behind the panel at the back of the glovebox. The one at the back of the glovebox eludes me still. I found some cables but no sign of a fusebox. The one under the bonnet seemed a little more promising so I opened it up and pulled all the yellow fuses, none were blown. Seemingly defeated, I took the car to my preferred Independant garage. After an hour of searching with his SnapOn scanner, he revealed that my pulling of fuses resulted in around 70 communication faults which all had to be cleared individually! He did, though, discover that there is a seperate fusebox behind the left hand side panel in the boot which contains the offending fuse. My task, now, is to find how to remove the side panel. So, if anyone knows how this might be accomplished please let me know.

Does seem a bit crazy that there is no fuse diagram within the handbook, never owned a car without that before..

Re: C5X fuses
That sounds a real pain, I have been looking at this area too, I want to get in and sound deaden over the wheelarch and behind the panel which sounds like it has nothing behind it. The task is made so difficult with their being so few parts around that area. All I've got to so far is buying a Hilka trim removal kit that I'm yet to use. My observations are:verycleverman wrote: 25 Jul 2025, 14:33 He did, though, discover that there is a seperate fusebox behind the left hand side panel in the boot which contains the offending fuse. 1) The sill at the back around the boot release needs lifting as it holds the right/ left surround in place, if you take out the boot map and look on the inner side you'll see 2 clips like this one on either side. https://vehicleclips.co.uk/collections/ ... 1609267280 Removing these will allow the sill to be lifted.
2) The release for the rear seats to drop has a screw cover in the mechanism in the centre, no doubt it needs this removing.
3) The 4 tie down eyes at each corner with holes seem like you could just pull the sidewall above them.
4) The rear seat holder is a pain as it has a hole but facing in the opposite direction.
5) The plastic square section with cables in it running front to rear at the left edge just underneath the carpet mat looks easyish to remove, just clips in.
All the same it doesnt seem straightforward by any means. The other option of going in through the side of the back seats looks a no-no as one piece of plastic runs from foot level in the back seats right up to the luggage cover.
If you do pursue this please could you post a video clip or similar so I can see how it's done. I'd be very grateful.

Re: C5X fuses
I did ask this question on another thread the other day
"Just a random one, has anyone invested £28 in a Haynes manual for a C5X? I can't categorically determine if interior trim removal would be included in the manual so don't really wanna spend the money without knowing."
I dont really want to take the plunge without knowing.
I did a search around and nothing else came up except this. If push came to shove I could sign up for a quid and then cancel https://www.autodata-group.com/uk/workshop-manuals/

Hi, thanks for your input. It will probably be a few weeks before I can investigate as I had some extensive surgery on my right hand yesterday. It’s certainly given me food for thought though.

Re: C5X fuses
You can get in this way. Trim removal tools gently easing it off. As I cant get any closer to the wheels I'm going to stop there. You need to take off the boot release to get this far. You can see where the lighter is.

Re: C5X fuses
In fact I will go back in at some stage. If you knock that plastic area on either side around where the 12v socket is it does rattle a bit. Could do with a bit of dodomat on the back to settle it down.

Re: C5X fuses
I'm looking to hardwire a dashcam on my C5X and I'm also discovering how little information there is. It was dead simple on my last car to run the wire and tap into the fusbox.
I bought the 70mai dashcam with the 4G hardwire kit, and I'd really like to hardwire the dashcam to use the 4G feature and for the parking mode.
After many hours of searching, I've come up with the following options:
1. Split the 12V power on the rain sensor, possibly with something like this "Plug and play Power Cable For Car Dvr Dash Cam For BMW For Audi For VW For Mercedes Benz Connect the Rain Sensor/Reading Lamp" on aliexpress. There's no specific product for Citroen, but this particular seller has an option to contact them to enquire about other makes/models: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002640893019.html
I believe I can connect the hardwire kit into this splitter (if I can get one compatible with the C5X), but it would only provide power when the car is on and won't let me use the dashcam's parking mode.
2. There's a product by a company FitDVR similar to option 1 (part number D3-037), which adds an adapter to the T-connector cable for both 5V an 12V output. This lets me use the dashcam without the hardwire kit by simply plugging it into the USB port, but again, no parking mode and no 4G support with this option.
3. Someone on a French forum installed the dashcam with a 20000mAh battery: https://www.planete-citroen.com/topic/1 ... ar/page/3/
This is probably the least difficult solution, but the car can get very hot inside in the summer and I'm not sure about leaving a battery that big in the heat for extended periods.
4. There are some fusebox diagrams online for older cars the C5X is based off (for example the one I've attached for the C5 X7) but the fusebox is really difficult to get to behind the glovebox. So far I've only pulled out the panel on the side of the passenger side glovebox and the panel in the back of the glovebox, but it's really not obvious to me how to get any deeper to the fusebox hidden behind.
5. See if the dealership will wire it for me. Or a garage if they can figure out which fuse to tap on the fusebox.
Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can help out or comment on the viability of these solutions.

Re: C5X fuses
Hi, I used the 12 v socket in the boot in the end and purchased a 12 v socket splitter so I would still have the socket output, seems to work fine. Was put off pulling fuses after reading about the faults that others have had on this forum.
