Stellantis recall on 1.5 BlueHDI engines.

Unread post by Pete i »

Hi
I was reading the Vauxhall forum that I am on (because I used to have a vauxhall) and one of the guys has said that Stellantis has issued a recall covering all their vehicles using this engine to resolve the camshaft chain issue. This is a link to that post which in turn has a link to Parkers website giving recall details. https://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk ... di.914507/ I have checked the "My Citroen" app on my phone for my vehicle but there is nothing on there. This forum is a nightmare to find anything on in my opinion so I am asking if anyone has any more details on this. I will go to my Citroen dealer on Monday but they have proved to be not particularly helpful in the past on these issues.

The VIN for my Citroen C4 Spacetourer 21 plate is V73AYHZ2MJ650728

Thanks.

Thanks for that and I have read that thread but I am asking specifically if anyone has seen or heard about a Stellantis recall for these engines which the article, that I linked to, says that Stellantis has issued a proactive recall for this engine. I will check with the Citroen dealer on Monday but thought I would ask here first. There is nothing on my Citroen app pertaining to my car but then I find that app very lacking in any information really.

Woe is me.... woe and thrice woe !!! ( Frankie Vaughn)
Peugeot Rifter with this engine just packed in. Cranked over looking through oil filler cap, camshaft not turning. 50k on the clock, had it 13months, done 2k only, serviced in July. Still under warranty with spoticar, who knocked back my last claim for EGR valve. I don't have faith that they will honour the warranty. Considering all the re-calls Stellantis are dealing with, I seriously think I would be without a vehicle for 2months at least.
Question is, how much would it cost, ball park figure, to have it done by independent garage ?
Promise I won't hold you to it.

Frankie Howerd I think.

Sorry can't help with the rest although it really does depend on what has broken and then caused further damage. My guess is over £1k, perhaps twice that if other items need changing.

Thanks Paul, I realised my mistake an hour later.
Frankie Howard yes, Up Pompey, what a show.
Emailed service manager from my local Stellantis dealer in Liverpool. Still waiting for a reply. Best not hold my breath.
I hope I don't have to go down the route of contacting Trading standards. Or is there a motoring Ombudsman ?

Update on 7mm chain snapped. Stellantis offered a date to accept into their garage of mid December. Couldn't see me getting car back until mid February. That would be 5 months off the road. No guarantee I would get warranty from either Stellantis or Spoticar. Decided to use a local garage in Liverpool ( Kong Performance), after getting refused by a couple of others. Turns out they do all their own engine rebuilds and refurbished on site. Gonna cost 2k plus. 8mm conversion kit, valves, rockers etc.
I will never buy from Stellantis again or use Spoticar warranty. I love the car, it suits us but I just want to drive it. That's what I thought I was getting when I bought a newish car. For 20 years I've only driven company transits, never need a car. I suppose the moral is take your time choosing a car and do research on the model and the dealer. Read the reviews, 90% will probably be genuine and you will get a good feeling or in my case a bad one after I read them.
Looking forward to many more miles trouble free motoring.

Cheers all

Just got car back after repair. 2 weeks in total to repair at a cost of £3500. New cams, 8mm chain, valves and lifters etc. Now the fight begins claiming the money back from Stellantis or Spoticar. Going to trading standards 1st, then finance company then Motoring Ombudsmen. I will update any results, positive or negative.

Sent my complaint to Stellantis financial services 1st, by registered post, waited 3 months for a reply. NOTHING !!
Then filled in the form for the Motoring Ombudsman to take my complaint up. They came back saying that they are not accredited to the motor ombudsman and will not deal with them. They cannot go any further.
Big company wins again. There are other avenues I could go down, but honestly, I just want a simple stress free life.
