Got a call Monday from my local Citroen garage (not Durham Croxdale) and told me parts are in, got them fitted today within an hour, dropped and collected the car in the span of 2 hours.

The lawsuit from stellantis is going to be juicy for the labour, admin and any other reason to get more money from the airbag manufacturer.

There's some guidance and information on the airbag recall on the Moneysavingexpert website, but if you read it - please note the finer points i.e. 'Could', and 'Can' are not the same as 'Will' or 'Must' !!! 8-[ [-X

Re: Airbags are not an MOT failure

Unread post by KennethPM »

Had my C3 airbags replaced last week at Tates Crawley, excellent service, finnished by 11am they called me moment it was finnished, anyway i asked if they notified DVLA etc so its not on your MOT record ( my words here ) the service manager told me it is not a MOT failure.

......im posting this is because i was getting so fed up with no car for 3 weeks before this, reading whatever i could about cars being Roadworthy, Insurance etc etc. I phoned Citroen/stellantis F---kIng useless and two Citroen Dealers repair centres not once was i told not to drive the car. I even looked at hiring a car/van i was so fed up, but did not.

Still haven't had daughter's done. Son attempted to have it done on Friday but was told they didn't have an order for it, despite daughter arranging it. She hadn't had a confirmation email to back to the beginning.

Update from my case regarding stop drive.
I too have had fierce resistance from Citroen to comply withtthe 201 Consumer act hich very clearly says they must make good with the minimum of inconvenience and at no cost to car owner.
I was offered £50 + £1 per mile including Vat to have my car transported to the dealer for repair, having quotes of £78 - £125 I went back to Citroen and the upped it to £100,
Then the dealer said dont send it as they had run out of air bags and they had been waiting 3.5 weeks for an order.
The dealer then said to try Formel D, they came back trumps with Aug 8th a wait of 10 days and they do it on your drive so long as you can open both doors fully and have room for their van.
My dealer declined to give a courtesy car even though im disabled, have no viable bus service, comunity transport want 4 weeks notice and between us we have hospital/ doctors appointments every week.
Citroen offered £22 per day for alternative transport but it was far below what was needed and the T's and C's attached were unsafe especially as you had to fork out then claim back.
I formally declined this and kept on at them, I hired a Fiat 500 for 10 days and have invoiced them for that, including the taxi fre home when I returned it and a token sum based on 45ppm for being picked up and taken there to collect it.
Citroen have now relented and given me a hire Dacia Duster till my car is repaired on 8th August.
Citroen have been told I will take them to court if they dont pay for the car I hired and the associated costs.
I will update when I hear from them.

Posted on the sticky thread but it seems more models are affected. My 2013 DS5 has flagged as affected in the Citroen search page for this issue. No letters received but will be calling them Monday morning.

My experiense over the repair.

There is a company caled FormelD who will come and fix your car on your drive.

Mine took 8 days to come and 35 mins to do the work, I got a certificate to say the car was safe to drive.

The loan car saga still goes on, I hired a fiat 500 and paid myself intent on claiming it back from Citroen, myDaughter took me to pick up the car , I claimed 45p per mile for 42 miles and a taxifare home when I took it back after 10 days, they then sent me a Dacia Sondero from the same hire company which citroen are paying for.

They will only pay me £22 per day for the hire car, nothing for my Daughter ' s fuel and all of this only after the repair has been done and on production of bank statements showing I had paid, invoices from the car hire and taxi were not good enough.

Now im waiting for the Dacia to be collected and its in the way.

I will be left £3-400 out of pocket if I accept what they are offering so I have said any moneys they send will be without predudice and will not be accepeted as full and final settlement, Ive got the small claims court papers ready to send when I can fill in th exact ammounts.

Which has got involved today as well as Martin Lewis and Resolver, they all say take em to court if they dont coff up.

Similar problems. Although the fact you did get a courtesy car is a win. Citroen told me the average wait for one is 4-6 weeks and the fixes are getting done before the hire car arrivals. Same issue with them saying max £22 per day which is not a realistic budget for anything apart from public transport for me but what about family? And pursuing the courtesy option daily especially as I have a uk hols in 2 weeks which I will need a car for.

So I have received a call from Thrifty who are subbing out to Free2Move for potentially a courtesy car within the next few days. Shall wait and see. Also today Citroen made it official for my DS5 with a letter confirming other models.

Had it done at last, Croxdale Citroen in Croxdale (Durham).
Son took it, done in just under two hours. We can now drive the car again. Not that we ever stopped, used daily.

Yeh but, there is the big bonus of being safe to take the bullet proof vest and face guard off now :)

It's my daughter's car but she can't drive it due to her current medication, youngest son is the only driver as my insurance no longer permits me to drive any car other than the Mazda.
He just played the odds and kept his fingers crossed. Just as well it didn't go off as he is getting married in the morning, his betrothed may have called it off if his face was turned into mince.
