Re: Picture(s) of the day....
A few days ago I received a long, almost flat parcel. I'd not ordered anything and was not expecting anything...
There was no indication who it was from although the packing carried some indication it contained flowers... Who's send me flowers? All a bit mysterious!
I opened it and found - a flat-packed live chilli plant having three lovely ripe chillies on it and a load of baby ones
Still no indication of the sender...
I potted it up as per instructions after unfolding its flat-packed cork flower pot and lo and behold
It was only when I was about to pop the packing in the recycling bin I saw a card... It was a birthday present from my daughter Sian
What an awesomely thoughtful and wonderful present
She knows I absolutely love chillies!
And no, it didn't come from IKEA

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
It was my son's 16th birthday yesterday so we took him sky diving. Unfortunately it was rained off, so it was done today instead!!! He only went on done it!!! Crazy kid, we could here his screams before he landed. He's terrified of heights and pushed himself to his limits, I'm well proud. so a pub meal is his reward and my respect. .

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Spent a bit of time in the darkroom yesterday
Loving this one
It looks more like a scene from 1925 rather than 2025... Taken in one of our local garden centres on a posh outdoor furniture display. The leaves around the arbour are actually artificial!
The grain is quite prominent as it was shot on 'budget' 400ASA Kentmere film, one that's revered for its graininess. These days, grain is considered an integral part of the black and white artform and I completely embrace it - it adds yet more character

Monochrome is perfect for that Jim. Quite ethereal yet focuses attention on the subject.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Interesting you should say that Steve, because when I looked at it my eyes were drawn straight to the surrounding vegetation and I almost missed the figure in the middle!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Gosh Mick! Not sure how the young lady in question would react to being thought of as 'the figure in the middle'mickthemaverick wrote: 30 Jul 2025, 12:52Interesting you should say that Steve, because when I looked at it my eyes were drawn straight to the surrounding vegetation and I almost missed the figure in the middle!!![]()
She is very much my favourite to photograph and notoriously hard to get a good picture of as she won't pose and is always on the move. This one (as most of the good ones of her are) was got with pure luck, auto-focus and auto exposure alone. No skill on my part whatsoever

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Taken whilst sitting on a very overgrown verge photographing the Wednesday TT race
Trying to be a bit arty
Taken with my 75-300mm IS zoom at full reach and fairly open. It's produced some quite nice bokeh
