Renault kadjar 1.3 Petrol Engine Tapping noise at tickover videos

I wonder if anyone can provide me with any advice on what might be causing a loud tapping noise on my 2021 Renault Kadjar 1.3 petrol engine at tickover. This engine is fitted to many Renaults, Dacias, Nissans and Mercedes and seems to have a good reputation for reliability (apart for the plastic thermostate housing breaking/leaking). I have a friend who has a 1.3 Dacia Duster which doesn't make this type of noise. I have read the high pressure fuel pump can make a noise but it seems nearer the timing chain end. The car has only coverd 8.5K miles and has always been regularly serviced by a Renault main dealer.
It sounds as as if a tappet needs adjusted but i am aware it won't be this as its fitted with hydraulic adjusters (unless one is faulty!).

As suggested I have made two videos that hopefully can show the noise I'm concernd about.

One video is recording the noise with the bonnet open and the other is with the bonnet closed.

The video with the bonnet closed seems to filter other engine noises out and helps to show the tapping noise more clearly.





Any advice would be appreciated.

The noise seems to have a variable rhythm which is probably a clue for the dealer's mechanic. I'd take it back to where it has been serviced, or another dealer, and ask them to at least listen to it and hopefully identify the issue. Out of curiosity how does it sound at higher revs?

Thanks for the reply. At higher revs it seems to disappear but as engine noise goes up it's difficult to tell. I noticed too the noise has a variable rhythm.

Did you ever manage to get the noise diagnosed as my 2020 has the same, everywhere I look it says it is normal, but I worry it’s not.

Unfortunately I still have not been able to resolve this issue. I am thinking of trying a different grade of oil.
