Update.

We had a chat last night and the other half was against the idea but not necessarily for a reason I expected. She kinda sees it as going back to the 500x or similar, a car we sold to get the DS9 which I argued at the time was better for our needs.....mainly a motorway cruiser. I got a sense too even though she didnt say it that despite her initial doubts she has grown to like the DS9.... which is understandable, especially if she does not believe the ride issue is a problem. Apart from this one issue I love the car so I'm not going to force it.

That said it kinda does give me a green light to get the suspension sorted, not sure where i'll go but I need a reputable specialist who can help.

Imo, those C5 aircross PHEV's are still a bargain at £23k brand new even if they are old spec. If she does does think about it and reconsider I'd be intrigued to have a 24 test drive of one.... after previously driving the DS9 Etense with the same battery/ engine/ gearbox I do know its a smooth setup.

Just a quickie if you can help pls.

Earlier on this thread the rear shock for the DS9 225hp non phev was given as part number 9837905280 but on this site it's given as 9836437080! Any ideas why?

And then there is another one here from a broken car, KYB branded! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256853335635 ... Sw4ZRn0MSY

I don't know if you remember but you flagged up my car had discontinued bump stops at the rear. I'm now wondering if this could be a similar story?

Think I might have the answer....finally.

My knocking supension noise has annoyed me since I got the car. It's off for a shaker plate test tomorrow. I had the front wheel off over the weekend and just had a general check out of the area and components. Lifted the dust cover and off the ground there was maybe 10cm-12cm between the bumpstop and the white buffer at the bottom, as per pic.

However I've just been downstairs and wondered what that gap is when the car is on the ground. Lifted up the dust cover and I can't even fit 2 of my thin fingers in side by side. I guess the distance is 25mm-30mm which reading around just sounds far too low.

I think it's just been hitting the bump stops which is why im getting the thuds.

Sorry to put a fly in the ointment, but early C5X Phevs suffered from a knocking noise from the rear shock absorbers. I would have thought most would have had them sorted by now.

Mine was built late September '22, and it's okay.🫱🪵.

I've driven the C5X tonight on local rough roads and then on a 40/50 stretch. 12 miles overall.

When I last drove the C5X it was in the summer of 2022 and I had a Fiat 500x at the time, it was like night and day in terms of ride. This time around I'm coming from a DS9 which rode quite well apart from the knocking sound from the front passenger side that I never did get resolved. As such I'm not finding the C5X night and day this time around and I'm wondering if they are all like mine?

Another thing is I don't really detect any difference in the modes, the ride seems very much the same in all 4 settings. I'm not noticing any particular knocking sounds.

I'd like to drive another if possible, just for peace of mind but how do I go about it? Get a dealer to check mine out.....but it is Stellantis so they are hopeless or do I pose as a buyer and ask for a test drive of another car?

One more thing. Motorpoint said that my car was a lease car originally. Registered end of Nov 24 and they seem to have got hold of it in early May 25. It had 1,380 miles on it when I collected.

Would you read anything untoward into this?

I don't know where in London you are but I just had a quick look on Autotrader and there are at least 5 C5Xs for sale in London area. 1 in Wembley, 2 in Enfield, 1 in Croydon and 1 in Willesden plus some round the outskirts so I'd think a 'buying' trip may be the easiest way to find out! :)

It is normal practice for hire companies to lease cars from the manufacturer for 6 months and then feed them into the used car market. Since it would be a high range car it probably would not have been rented very much and so that is shown in the mileage, of course there is the possibility that it may have spent a lot of time in the garage for one reason or other but it is more than likely just down to low demand as a hire car. :)

Hi.

The "buying trip" happened today. The idea of asking motorpoint came into my head and they were happy to help. The drive to chingford was only 26 miles but took 90 mins each way (10.30ish till 2.30 ish) with an hour in the middle at the site. One of the issues going from SW to NE London. Drove the 72 plate black one they have and it was all but the same as mine, which is comforting.

I carried on my C5X convo here viewtopic.php?p=845461#p845461

The thread title is a little more fitting to the C5X.
