Especially given the lovely colour, I'm quite surprised Jim didn't go for this one:
Full set of primary colours (with strawberry and bluebell) ?

Says estimate £3000-£3500 which seems cheap given the prices of various other listings estimates

Don't be fooled by the title, there are some rare but interesting cars in this sale, so which will it be for you? I'm still mulling as there are a number of examples of cars I've owned before to eliminate before I pick from the rest!! :-D

There is also a second chance to go for the Peugeot 304 featured in the last sale!! Hmmm!!

From that sale at last the perfect vehicle for Jim to replace Polly with, it has so many attributes that fit his hobbies : no tax, no MOTs, room for bikes, suicide doors, column change, bench seats, 2 smoke engine - what's not to like? :-D

My mulling has got me down to a choice of two:
Just to prove I'm not a snob!

or:
I just love the dash!!

But which will it be? :-D

After due deliberation I have gone for:
Spoiler: show
The Allegro on fuel economy grounds as I would intend to use whichever of them I picked! :-D
Spoiler: show
Spoke too soon, Never mind the economy but with the Hawk as well as the dashboard I get somewhere proper to fit this at last!:

Blimey, there's quite a lot to choose from there

High up on the Bobins' list of dersirables would be.....

1963 Auto Union Universal 1000 - 'cos it's unusual.
1967 Sunbeam Alpine GT - 'cos I've always liked them.
2009 Mazda MX-5 - 'cos I could put together a garage of one of every Mk of them :-D
1966 Humber Hawk - 'cos it looks so nice.
1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow - 'cos it might go quite cheap and it's one of those cars you ought to own, even for a short while :)
1970 Lotus Europa S2 - 'cos it's got to be fun.
1957 MGA 1500 Coupe - 'cos I fancy pootling around the lanes in it.
1963 Bond Equipe - just because.
1996 Jaguar XK8 Convertible - 'cos they look good in my opinion.
2001 Mercedes SLK230 - 'cos it's got a manual gearbox, and that's not normal.

But I'll settle for the 2000 AC Cobra Replica (Southern Roadcraft) - 'cos my mate used to work for Southern Roadcraft and I spent many an hour in their workshop drooling over the Cobra and Daytona replicas whilst I slowly became overcome with the smell of firbreglass resin and leather

It's interesting to note how many of the cars are being sold 'No Reserve'. The classic car auction market is becoming a little unpredictable of late and there's some bargains to be had if you fancy a punt. If I was nearer Cheshire...... and I had somewhere to put them........ anbd I had just a little more spare cash........ I'd be registering for that auction and keeping a close eye on each car's progress through the sale. :-k

I know I'm predictable but that Sorrento Green 205 GTi is my choice despite being a 1.9....

That's a very late one too...

I once chucked my wife out of one of those Humber Hawks. :(
I was doing a first service on one, it had leopard skin seat covers, had a call from my wife to say she'd been to the dentist and wasn't feeling well could I give her a lift home. I had the road test to do so I did so in the Hawk, part way home she suddenly wanted to throw up, I skidded to a standstill opened the door and pushed her out.

Ahh but for me Mick, nothing trumps the 205GTi - except perhaps an AX GT ;) The big problem with the Auto Union is that the Radio 4 Longwave transmitter will soon be switched off so I'd have no radio to listen to :( Mind you, not that it's really a problem as Strawberry doesn't have a radio...

I must admit the Auto Union is an interesting and characterful car :D

I thought that Sorrento GTi looked to have too high a ride height, maybe an inch bigger wheels or something? :-D

Having closely looked Mick, whilst the wheels are correct - they were only ever available in one size - I'd agree it doesn't look quite right...

My thought is that it's wearing the wrong tyres. I once had a set of those wheels on a Xantia and put on a set of lower than standard profile tyres and it looked all wrong. I think it was 60 rather than 65 profile or 65 rather than 70 profile - it was getting on for 20 years ago now and the memory is a bit dim...

It is shod with 185/55/15s which are indeed bigger than standard on the 1.6 but correct for the 1.9 according to :

All 1.0L and 1.1L 205s and the 1.8L XLD and GLD 205s fitted 145R 13 tyres. We recommend the 145HR13 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™; CA67 as the best tyre in this size.
The ideal innertube for 145 R13 tyres is the Michelin 13D.
Some Peugeot 205's find themselves on 155 R13 Tires due to the scarcity of 145R13 options or a desire for a wider tire profile. When considering the 155R13 size, the 155R13 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67 stands out as an exceptional choice.
Longstone recommends you fit the Michelin 13D innertube when using 155R13 tyres.
1.4L models and 1.6 Automatic models, as well as the 205 D Turbo fitted 165/70 - 13 tyres.
Peugeot 205 CTi and GTi Tyres
The 205 1.6L GTi, 1.6L CTi, and 1.9L CTi fitted 185/60 R 14 Pirelli P600 or Michelin MXV. The tyre we recommend in this size is the 185/60 VR 14 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2. These tyres are perfect for road use and competition use thanks to their rubber compound derived from competition spec, giving them an amazing grip on both straights and corners.
The 1.9L GTi 205 fitted 185/55 R 15 tyres. The tyre that we recommend in this size is the 185/55 R 15 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2.
