Sensor connector identification

Unread post by Splw2012 »

Hi

I can't find where this connector came loose from.
It's part of the wiring harness for the ignition coils.
The connector has two wires – red and white.
I think it should be near the accessory belt.
Any idea?
Thx

Pure guess work but I'd look for a temperature sensor in the block or a rail pressure sensor. Hopefully someone with better knowledge will be along soon :)

I found a picture online — it seems like this connector goes toward the tensioner, but I'm not sure

Does the engine run with that connector unplugged? :)

It is possible that the connector is for something that your vehicle does not have. Rather than have a wiring loom for every variant of a model of vehicle the manufacturers will have only a few looms (so there might be one loom for the LX and SX variants, a different loom for the VTR and VTX, and so on). That helps to reduce their costs, as well as allows them to be able to offer optional extras.

Indeed it could be that James which had occurred to me as has an old fashioned connector for the old Elit diagnostic kit which was around for XM and Xantia days. I don't know if the Elit system had different parts of the loom to test different systems, maybe Citrojim could elaborate on that? :)

I bought the car about a month ago.
Last week I replaced the valve cover gasket, and it's possible that I disconnected this connector — though I honestly don’t remember doing so 🫣
I’m sure I didn’t touch anything near the belt tensioner area.

Since then, the engine feels a bit weaker and there's noticeably more smoke coming from the exhaust.
I’m not sure if it’s related to this disconnected plug or just a coincidence.

Now I am wondering whether it is the connector for your MAF sensor sited in the air intake. If that becomes disconnected the ECU reverts to a standard setting and performance suffers. Check that the MaF sensor has a plug in it. :)

No. I never get ads, always use adblockers (Ublock Origin and Adblock +) Brave and Epiphany have their own adblockers.

Ditto.
